Our goodbye to the young student Alaa

Our goodbye to the young student Alaa

We’ve received some sad news from our local coordinator in the Gaza Strip, Mohanad: the young Alaa Yahya Alzamli, a 16-year old student, has been killed by the a sniper of the Israeli army while taking part in the protest for the Right to Return to the border with the Gaza Strip. He’s been hit in the head by a bullet shot by a sniper.

Alaa was one of the most brilliant students in the boys’ school in Rafah, and in the past months, he had actively participated in our psycho-social support workshops, which have been organised for students in the context of the “Social water: access to water and psycho-social support services for minors and vulnerable families in the Rafah refugee camp in the Gaza Strip” project. His father works as a teacher in that same school.

We tie ourselves in a great hug to all family, parents, friends and teachers for this terrible and painful loss.
