In 2005 the province of Zambezia, in central Mozambique was hit by a severe food crisis due to a long period of drought. For economic reasons, the country has not declared a state of emergency and has not been included in the aid program. As a result, hundreds of people suffered from hunger and, in the poorest villages, there were the first victims.

Together with the Pro Africa Onlus and Missioni Indiane associations, we decide to intervene: thanks to a fundraising supported by individuals, associations and Italian parishes in a few months we distributed over 16,000 kg of rice and 800 kg of corn flour to more than 3,300 families across the Milange district. The project was the result of collaboration with the parish of Milange and the village authorities.

The project was sponsored by the municipalities of Buccinasco (Italy) and Rozzano (Italy). The association Amici dei Bambini and the parishes of Varallo Pombia and Rozzano (Italy) also joined the project.
